ABOUT STEPHEN KLINER
My passion is telling the incredible story of this wonderful complex country.
I made Aliyah to Netanya in December 2012 and decided to embark on a two-year journey to become an English speaking Tour Guide through the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
Born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1953, I graduated LLB in Law and MA in Economics and Sociology at the University of Glasgow and practised as a solicitor in private practice for over thirty years.
I am a past President of the Glasgow Jewish Representative Council. I worked for many years in various capacities for a number of charitable organisations both locally in Glasgow and nationally. I co-authored a pictorial history ‘Jewish Glasgow’ which was published in Israel and launched in Glasgow and the Bet Hatefutsot, Tel Aviv in October 2013.
Whether you are visiting Israel for the first time or a regular visitor, I would be delighted to design and guide a private tour for you and your family.
Look forward to seeing you in Israel!
"A wonderful guide, Stephen delivers an informative and insightful tour every time, from Caesaria to Masada. As a reporter, I've written several times about the Dead Sea Scrolls over the years and still learned more from him at Qumran. I've been fortunate enough to do three seperate individual tours with Stephen. Hoping I'm lucky enough to return for number four."
John Quain, contributor, The New York Times
"We recently had the opportunity to go on a tour to the northern part of Israel with Stephen. Among other things we visited the graves of Yehoshua Hankin and his wife Olga. Stephen's knowledge of the pair was encyclopaedic. Not only was he learned in the history of the country, but he expressed great understanding of the different types of terrain, vegetation, flowers, and the country's various populations from Bedouin, Arabs, Yemenite Jews and others. We travelled from Hankin's graves to the Spring of Gideon. Gideon drank from this spring (as did we) and prepared his war against the tribe of Midianites. Stephen read directly from the words of the Bible about the preparations and the battle. We listened absorbed entirely in the history as we felt we were viewing the decisive battle in "real time." If that is not an example of "living with history" .......it doesn't get better than that!!!! Stephen's preparation and delivery show a man who loves this country and has a wonderful infectious personality. We have travelled all over the world from Mongolia to the tip of South America and never experienced a better time and more informative guided tour. We recommend Stephen without reservations and hope you are able to get his services since he is quickly booked by many"

"Fabulous and insightful tour to Kibbutz Merhavia, near Afula, which was also Golda Meir's first Israeli home. Our tour guide, Stephen Kliner, demonstrated not only his knowledge about the obvious places of interest, but provided added depth and understanding of the lives and tribulations of the early pioneers. A unique and very special experience. Thank you Stephen"

"Had a magnificent day in Jerusalem yesterday with our tour guide Stephen Kliner. He made the day such an experience by explaining everything we saw with great knowledge and passion. Excellent guide, excellent delivery. Even if you've been before he'll still be able to show you things you haven’t seen before. 5* Tour. Thanks Stephen"

"We had a fantastic tour of the Sea of Galilee. Stephen’s knowledge is amazing, the content was wonderfully varied and he cleverly gauged the day to suit what appealed to us most. A real day to remember and we would recommend anyone who is going to Israel to contact Stephen. You won’t be disappointed!"

"We did a fantastic tour of Roman Caesarea with Stephen and we really understood what a feat of engineering the aqueduct was, starting off up in the hills and running right down to the Roman settlement. Stephen even showed us where the Romans went to the bathroom, and all with a smile and friendly guidance. A great day out. Where shall we go next?"
Eleanor Livingston, Glasgow, Scotland
"Excellent tour in the Northern Golan - Neve Ativ and Majdal Shams, just a half a stone's throw from the Syrian border, and an extensive tour of Banias. Fun and informative — feeling fabulous"

"If you do not contact Stephen Kliner to be your tour guide while in Israel you are missing out on a fabulous experience. From the moment you meet Stephen you will be enveloped with his love of Israel, his wealth of knowledge of the country that goes far beyond the basic history, and his engaging personality. He stories and unique presentation at each place visited brings life to the site. Stephen encouraged us to visit Zichron Yakov, one of the early settlements in Israel. An incredible place with a story that matches. It was definitely a highlight of our visit. When you have concluded your tour Stephen will be more than your tour guide, he will be your friend and his passion for Israel will become your passion."
